Dust of days
Dust of days: peripheral youth archive.
A personal archive-based documentary series about Naples and youth from the hinterland at the time of the first Berlusconi political wave in Italy: 1996-2001. Personal archive step 1: emerging matter.
Outside Naples, you are always required to hear a story from the city and you are always asked for one. I have these fragments, episodes of a generational novel torn apart by time and dust. I have these peripheral points of view. I only have Napoli Brin Gate. I have fragments of my youth program in the Vesuvian hinterland. I talked to the Moroccan boy who used to make a living selling tissues at the level crossing. I used to look at scenes, to look at architectures. I used to carry groceries up to our third floor. I used to exercise with photography. When driving, I sometimes came across Chinese working ladies who took their children to our local families for long-term babysitting. One million lire (500 euros) per month, 30 days out of 30, was the fee to look after them. They used to walk, they had no car.
