Signal from Noise – A Live Sound Installation Now on Streaming

The sound piece Signal from Noise, composed by Phil St. George, is now available on major international streaming platforms. It is a recorded excerpt of a live performance by Phil St. George in 2020 for the site-specific installation of Ius Soli, Prolegomena per un museo archeologico della Zona Rossa.
Signal from noise is part of the Ius soli archive, and it is an ongoing collection of collaborations with composers and a performance and live installation.

Phil St. George is an electronic music composer. He has operated by live rewriting an archive of previously composed sounds.
Conceived by Giovanni Ambrosio, Signal from noise was a live sound installation. After a week-long residency, it activated Prolegomeni for an archaeological museum in the red zone. The live rewriting based on an archive of field recordings of Mount Somma-Vesuvio sounds.
How can we transform the diffuse noise from the surrounding reality into an intelligible signal? How do we visualise the potential of storytelling? How do we open an archive?
