Corte Vico II San Michele 2022
Site-specific Installation of Ius Soli: Campania Felix delenda est – Chapter 1: Waiting, Passing, Redempting
This catalogue documents the very first edition of Corte II Vico II San Michele (15–16 April 2022), a site-specific activation of my ongoing Ius Soli series. Hosted in a private courtyard in Ottaviano’s historic centre, the project transformed stone, dust, dialogue, and communal walks into a living archive of the Vesuvian territory.
Over two days, Vesuvio Adventures—with the moral patronage of the Comune di Ottaviano—took on the role of both commissioner and co-creator. Under Giovanni Ambrosio’s curatorial guidance, the courtyard became:
- A dialogue space (panels, flags)
- A performance pavilion (Julia Liedel’s live work)
- A walking laboratory (Progetto Fiori’s urban explorations)
- A sound chamber (site-specific audio by rumoremuto and Phil St. George)
- A video essay (Maria Mazzella’s Oreste will be back screening)
Through screenprints, riso-prints, plexiglas panels, stone rubbings, and live interventions, the installation mapped the courtyard’s strata of catastrophe and community, offering a fragmentary archaeology of place and voice.
Through layered gestures—stratigraphic impressions, archival traces, sonic interventions—Suoli, Suoni operates as a civic ritual, a laboratory of matter and sound that maps the porous relationship between ground, community, and art.
